Let’s have a tapas night 🇪🇸
Probably the easiest tapas dish is Pimientos de Padrón. In a few minutes you can prepare and enjoy these green delicacies.
This sweet little vegetable can be found in the supermarket especially during the summer/barbecue season. So keep your eyes open next time you go grocery shopping so you can bring a little Spain feeling home. In the following you will get the ‘recipe’. Well, it’s not really a recipe, because apart from oil and salt nothing else is added, but you should pay attention to a few things during preparation. And after the recipe will follow tips and more info. Vamos!
Recipe
- Serving: ca. 1-2
- Duration: ca. 15 Minuten
- Level: easy
Ingredients:
- 200g Pimientos de Padrón
- approx. 1 tbsp olive oil
- generous pinch of salt (flaky!)
Kitchen Tools:
- Antistick pan
- Wooden spoon
Directions:
- Heat pan over medium heat and add oil. Be sure to use medium heat or else they will burn.
- Add pimientos de padrón and sauté until evenly cooked. If necessary, use a lid to catch oil splatters.
- Now just be a little patient and let them get completely soft.
- Then serve with flaky salt – done.
Buen provecho!

Servings
So, from one bag you can theoretically make 2 servings, that’s why I specified 1-2, but they snack so well that you might prefer to make more than too little in that case. Depends on how or with what you eat them, of course. If there are other tapas, bread or other dishes, you should not overdo it, then 100g per person is enough.
This is how you eat them
You don’t know Pimientos de Padrón yet? Well then, I’ll tell you how to eat them: Hold on to the tip and bite off the rest – yes, you eat the seeds with them and don’t worry, you hardly taste them. Simply a pleasure, really!
Suitable accompaniment
Potatoes in various forms go very well with this green delicacy. If you want to stay with the Spanish theme, try patatas bravas, alternatively baked potatoes are also great.
Well, that’s it! Now you know how to prepare Pimientos de Padrón and can plan your next tapas night. Have fun & buen provecho!
